Digitoll - digitalization of customs clerance

This solution streamlines border crossings, and the customs authorities can assess risks based on the information before or, at the latest, upon arrival at the border.

The direct transport arrangement

This will be discontinued from April 1, 2025. At the same time, the digital reporting and information requirement will be introduced for all modes of transport.

Important Dates

January 1, 2023 – New customs regulations came into effect.
There is a requirement that all goods must be subject to a customs procedure and that a declaration must be submitted before or at the latest at the border crossing.
During a transitional period, until April 1, 2025, direct transport will still be possible without goods being declared before or at the border crossing. Goods are declared within 10 days after crossing the border.
April 1, 2025 – The direct transport arrangement will be phased out. Digital reporting and information requirements will apply to all modes of transport.
